Greetings neighbors. Please take a moment to read this post as it is very, very important. With the size of our community, we alone could triple the number of affidavits the county has received to date. Here's the short version...

If you haven't already sent photographs of you and your family enjoying our beautiful beaches to or you haven't submitted an affidavit describing your family's customary use of our beautiful beaches, please consider doing so before September 8th. A link to the affidavit is below.

The long version 🙂

Walton County needs our help in gathering evidence to make our case when employing the legal process set forth by HB631. There are many people not on social media who may have a treasure trove of photos that could be useful. In a county of 60,000+- people, only a fraction have submitted evidence to date.

What is needed?

Signed and notarized affidavits!!! You do not need to supply photos to submit an affidavit, but if you have photos they would be extraordinarily helpful. Please email or mail photos to the addresses below.

There is a link below to download the affidavit and instructions for submittal.

Please take the time to sign, notarize and drop off or mail the affidavit and spread the word in as many ways as possible - emails, social media, calls to friends and neighbors, etc.

What you can provide:

• Personal stories of customary use through the years
• Tales/photos from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s are of special interest
• No one should be discouraged from submitting an affidavit
• Photos specifying a beach area and date range (doesn’t have to be specific)
• Types of use: sunbathing, picnicking, walking, running, playing, sandcastles, etc

More ways to help:

• Share this info on your various social media accounts
• Share with your church groups, neighborhood email lists, community groups
• Talk to your friends, family & neighbors
• Identify longtime Walton County residents and make sure they are aware.
• Assist is getting the info if necessary and making sure an affidavit is notarized

We need to get the word out to as many people as possible.

Affidavits can be notarized Free of Charge at:

County Attorney’s office, 161 East Sloss Avenue,DeFuniak Springs
South Walton Annex, Planning Department offices

Time is of the essence!

In less than 4 weeks from today Walton County will hold their public hearing. Although the county thinks that they have a good case, I have seen them lose cases that they should have won. Let’s make sure that they have every advantage, by helping them collect this crucial evidence.
